Do You Belong to A Netizen?

What is "Netizen"?
The first generation of Internet users when the Internet was first born. The World Wide Web is created using a native HTML. Web pages are static and meant mainly to convey and share information.
The second generation sees people use the Internet in their work and business. We see many portals are created to aggregate many kinds of information. We began to see some level of interactive and e-commerce capabilities.
In the era of third generation, usage of Internet has been part of their daily lives. Social media is the norm. Smartphones (like iPhone and Blackberrys) became their main device and tool to communicate, interact and socialize with others. Most users have their own Facebook, MySpace, Twitter etc accounts. Netizens spend a significant amount of their time on the Net.

Do you Think Malaysian Telcos Will Adopt the Cloud Computing?

  • What's the Cloud? Very "cloudy" I guess...
  • I don't understand what's so special about this Cloud "hype" because the concept has been in existence for many many years by the telcos and the ISP providers.
  • Gmail as an example of Cloud Application? There are numerous ISP hosted Email services for their corporate users. And whenever you subscribed to its Internet services, a consumer will also be assigned an email address. Why don't we call that it a Cloud Service back then? Its the same as SaaS (Software as a Service), right?
  • When NTT DoCoMo launched its mobile portal which allowed their customers to have their own customized services, its also part of the Cloud.
  • When Apple launched MobileMe, Apple did not even called it as a Cloud. Even the concept of iTunes is also so-called "Cloud"
  • Then - why are we so hyped-up with this "Cloud Computing" concept? I don't know... but maybe you can tell us why...

The Internet of Things

Imagine one day Things around you talking to each other. The DATA that they carried will give us the relevant INFORMATION. With the right intelligence, we can sort this information into a more and meaningful KNOWLEDGE which finally make us in making a WISER decision.

That's what DIKW is all about in the era of IoT.

Cloud Computing - Is it a Hype...?

Cloud computing is all the rage. "It's become the phrase du jour," says Gartner senior analyst Ben Pring, echoing many of his peers. The problem is that (as with Web 2.0) everyone seems to have a different definition.
As a metaphor for the Internet, "the cloud" is a familiar cliché, but when combined with "computing," the meaning gets bigger and fuzzier. Some analysts and vendors define cloud computing narrowly as an updated version of utility computing: basically virtual servers available over the Internet. Others go very broad, arguing anything you consume outside the firewall is "in the cloud," including conventional outsourcing.
